Brand with a legacy of design since 1955
About this product
The Sumi-Kannyu series was first released in 1955. It features the 'Kannyu Crazing' technique, a decorative method that intentionally creates fine cracks in the surface glaze. This technique was previously only used in traditional pottery art, because it required a high level of skill and was impossible to produce in large quantities. However, Sutematsu Kumamoto, the founder of GINPO, introduced an innovation that enabled the mass production of clay pots with Kannyu. This makes Sumi-Kannyu the most historically significant Donabe product in GINPO's lineup, and it is still preferred by many even today. With its traditional Kyoto-style body shape and minimalist, transparent design, this special clay pot is perfect not only for hot pot dishes but also for Chinese cuisine, soups, and many other occasions.
Characteristics of Sumi-Kannyu
